I am called j.d., I’m 32 years old, and I live in Lawrence, Kansas, a city of about 80,000 40 miles west of Kansas City.

I have owned and operated this blog since June 18, 2002, save for a hiatus here and there, and I have neither taken nor asked for a single cent for it. I have both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in mathematics, each from Kansas State University, and I spent a year in the mathematics Ph.D. program at Purdue University, which resulted in FAIL. I taught math for a year at a Kansas high school after coming back to Kansas, with much the same result. I then worked in IT jobs in order to finance the studying for and taking of actuarial exams, and I am now an actuarial analyst for a health insurer.

A description of my beliefs? Hard to do. Let’s just say that I’ve managed to combine the world’s most unpopular religious views with the world’s most unpopular economic views with the world’s most unpopular view of government, all in one person. Awesome, huh?
