I have been pondering a lot of things lately - getting older, my health, my time, et cetera. It’s all been rather depressing.
But then I turned on FOX News this morning, and saw something that made me feel better: 500 nutbags dancing, chanting, and waving signs in support of this guy.
Then I thought: “If I’m wasting my time on this Earth, then what the hell are THEY doing?”
Moral of the story: Things are great, if you want them to be.

Check out the Lawrence Journal-World poll on the four potential images for the Kansas state quarter.
I’m partial to #1, the image of the Ad Astra statue atop the State Capitol’s copper dome, but no one outside of Kansas would know its meaning. #3 is a passable one as well.

You can always count on Reuters to blame America for something: Flying Saucer Fever Grips Iran, Theories Abound. They get it out of the way in the first line.
Is Iran about to be invaded by little green men or are the Americans racing through the night sky in spaceships to spy on the Islamic Republic?
If you read the rest of the story, you’ll notice that not one source is quoted as believing that the UFOs are really American spies. Reuters saw fit to introduce that one all on its own.

There was a large pro-abortion rally in Washington, D.C. Several speakers, including Susan Sarandon, Whoopi Goldberg, and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), were invited to share their thoughts on women’s rights.
And The Bitch Girls are mad as hell about it.
I guess women’s healthcare has to do with religion. I don’t know how, but Whoopi says so.
She’s holding up a hanger and screaming, “Never again.” She’s talking about how they had abortions with them.
There are men at the rally. They just want sex.
Nancy Pelosi is scary. Did you know that abortion is pro-child? Oh yeah, and she’s a devote [sic] Catholic. (What’s the Church’s view on plastic surgery? She seems to be a big fan of that.)
Madeline Albright is claiming that terrorism can be solved through family planning and reproductive rights. That’s a new one to me.
I can be for legal (hence, regulated) abortions without being sanguine about them. I certainly don’t want them to be part of my life, but that doesn’t mean they won’t happen elsewhere, and while they are legal, they can be safe and regulated.

The AP, among many others, is reporting that former Arizona Cardinal safety Pat Tillman was killed in Afghanistan on Thursday 04.22. He left the Cardinals and their three-year $3.6 million contract offer to join the Army Rangers after the September 11th attacks. Read the stories:
The sites I’ve linked to at your right have written much more eloquently than I could about this man, and have links to these and many other news stories.
God bless you and your family, sir.

Here’s an underreported story: UN Expresses Shock Over Shooting Incident Involving UN Police in Kosovo (Voice of America). Apparently, a shooting by a Jordanian serving in the UN force in Kosovo targeting American members of the same force took place, killing two Americans and wounding others of various nationalities.
To be totally fair, this isn’t a sanctioned-by-the-UN thing by any means, but it will be interesting to see where the UN investigation leads.

Before last Friday, juries on capital cases in Kansas had two choices in sentence: the death penalty, or the “hard 50″ - 50 years in prison without parole. The Statehouse and Gov. Sebelius fixed that little hole on Friday; now juries can impose a life sentence without parole in capital cases as an alternative to the death penalty.
I wish some governor would take a stand and ban the death penalty. That governor would probably be voted out of office in my state, but I don’t think a country with the words “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” in her Constitution should impose the death penalty on its citizens, no matter their crimes. A sentence of lifetime imprisonment without parole or a lifetime at hard labor is more appropriate.

The Kansas Senate, thankfully in my view, defeated the proposed Kansas Constitutional amendment banning same-sex unions of any kind - and the religious ultra-conservatives are pretty pissed: Fight to ban same-sex marriages reignited.
The giant churches referred to in the article have essentially become massive political special-interest groups who want to impose their ways on everyone. How is that different from the loony “anti-war” far-left groups?

Israel does another big favor for the world.
Immediately, and not surprisingly, the Euros condemned it. Now I’m just waiting for the pro-terror and far-left groups to voice their support for Rantisi.
