vox populis
I realize I haven’t posted in a while. I was out sick on Friday and now I’m back. I really have nothing to say today so we’ll just have some links and reader contributions.
- Michael, an old friend and analyst for the State of Kansas terrorism response program, sends us a link to a collection of news items related to terrorism from the US Dept. of Homeland Security, updated daily.
- Reader Judy injects some humor into the marriage debate with a story from the Leavenworth (KS) Times about a transgender couple charged with falsifying information on a marriage license application.
- The State Senate of Kansas has passed a house bill for a concealed-carry law. Kansas is one of four states which does not have such a law. Note especially the Lawrence Journal-World’s bias in this quote (emphasis is mine): “Supporters of the bill contend that the measure would allow law-abiding citizens to protect themselves. Opponents predict it would lead to more gun-related violence.”
Got it? Supporters of this bill “contend”, as if to advance some crazy notion; while opponents of concealed-carry “predict”, as if some sage wisdom were driving their “principled” opposition.
Also, I will be updating the look and feel of this site. I still don’t have a proper host for this site (right now it’s hosted on Blogspot), so my ability to display neat things like graphics is limited.
