e
“e is the center of the universe.” - prof. robert b. burckel, k-state dept. of mathematics.
e is the constant 2.7181… that occurs naturally in dozens of real-world applications and is important to the development of the theory of trigonometry and complex numbers. the “e” is for euler, as in the 17th c. swiss mathematician leonhard euler, who gave us most of the modern notations and conventions mathematicians use, along with discovering hundreds of concepts integral (no pun intended) to modern mathematics.
