update / back
So the exam was last Friday. I’d guess that I’ll be taking it again in six months. Disappointing to be sure, but rarely do actuaries take and pass all their exams on the first shot. I was until Friday four-for-four. Co-workers of mine have much harsher experiences (and additional personal pressures to boot). And it’s only part of the job. So I’m putting it in perspective.
The upshot of that is that I’ll have time to yammer for a while. I think my new goal for this blog is going to be the same as the original one; to be something like the Tony Bourdain of bloggers — the one a lot of people love, the one that all the right people hate, and relentlessly critical of fakes, frauds, vapid celebrities, vapid politicians, and people I just don’t like. I want my future relationship with the blogosphere to be something like Bourdain’s relationship with “foodies”: people to be dismissed most of the time and made fun of for sport the rest.
I still have things to say, and I’ll slowly but surely return to saying them, hopefully on a more regular basis than recently.

“vapid celebrities” — redundancy?

Something like that.

My condolences, of course. Mind-bending tests are why I leave math to you smart people.
