eagle editorial staff using pen names?
If1 this is true, it’s awesome. Frankly, if my issues writing was as stupid as some of the things I’ve seen come across there, I wouldn’t admit to writing it either.
It is with some trepidation that I even mention it, because a lot of bloggers post their opinion anonymously. I’m not front-and-center about my name either (although I’m not hiding or obscuring anything).
But that’s really the point; we’re supposed to believe that journalists hold some sacred ground when it comes to shaping opinion; when, in reality, they are simply someone else with yet another opinion. Someone, that is, who but for the grace of some middle-manager editor somewhere has a very loud megaphone.
The newspaper industry cannot win this particular game. I daresay that most journalists believe they deserve to, but, as they are learning the hard way: A) they don’t and B) they won’t.
