Iris Van Meter, one of the original “Creationist Six” State Board of Education members, is running in a Republican primary against sitting State Sen. Dwayne Umbarger of the 14th, which covers Chanute, Baxter Springs, Coffeyville, and Parsons.

I’d vote for her in the Republican primary, if I was a Republican and therefore allowed to vote in the primary, which I’m not.
See, the thing about creationalists on the school board is not that they do anything, but that their continued presence, especially in a majority status, insures that they all do nothing.
Besides, there’s nothing finer than listening to the tortured screams of Steve Rose.

Speaking of tortured screams, I think my next post is about Sean Tevis. I can’t tell whether he’s actually a fresh face or another Moderately Moderate Moderate of Moderation.

Oh, and my bad… I thought she was running for school board, in which case I could vote for her in the Republican primary, if I was a Republican and therefore allowed to vote in the primary, which I’m not.
But since she’s running for the state senate and that’s not my district, I can’t vote for her anyway.

Nice one . . . Best brief description of this phenomenon I’ve seen.

What would be great is if we could get exactly five creationists and five not. Then they would be utterly paralyzed, and teachers would just read the standards and do what they thought was right (which, if there were no such thing as school district administration offices, is what they would do anyway).
A boy can dream, can’t he?
