Blog Meridian asks, “Are you this way because you blog? Or do you blog because you are this way?”
Well, I’m like this all the time, so I don’t really know how to answer this question. I discovered blogging wholly by accident one boring night a long time ago, and now almost five years later, here I am. I used my blog as a place to dump random thoughts that rattled around in my head, shaping them perhaps into focused commentary or perhaps into something entertaining (well, at least to me). You see, I believe that my commentary — on any topic of the remotest import — is really just a meaningless parlor game unless they are exposed to criticism from the outside. That’s why I don’t ban readers or commenters (unless they are obviously spammers) and I don’t turn down link exchanges (except of course from spammers).
That and I take the ability to write well very seriously. Not enough people take the time to do it right these days. You may argue whether or not I have done it right. In any case, I get to practice a lot here.
So, I guess my best answer would be “I blog because I am the way I am.”

Or, as Descartes said, “I think, therefore I am…I think.”

emaw: More like “I have a big mouth, no life, and no girlfriend, therefore I blog.”
John: No, thank you.
