admire me, admire my home

I have successfully moved off of BlogSpot’s service and onto my own host. I must say I’m generally pleased with my new hosts. I was slightly irked with my hosts’ delay in installing Movable Type. But, I decided not to use Movable Type except for play purposes; instead I’m using Wordpress as my blogging tool. Even with my complaint, there is much to like about my new host. The fact that they will install your tools at all on demand is remarkable; and I get a myriad of features besides.

Anyway, here’s what’s happened in the move:

I can host images again. That means more pictures of my four young nieces for you all. It also means I can put my digital camera to work again, thereby justifying the $650 I paid for it four years ago.

Categories. I can arrange my posts into categories, so you can read my ruminations on certain topics.

Comments. This system has built-in comments that are much better than the old, off-site comments I was using before. Unfortunately, all comments from the old site are lost here, but that is a small price to pay for what I’ve gained. For you cognoscenti TrackBack has also been added.

Other than these, the coolest features are on my end, so I will undoubtedly have more fun with this than you might.

I’ll be rewriting the bits about me and about the site to fit the update. Thank you for taking the next step with me.

If you notice any problems, typos, or other mistakes, please let me know.
