terrorist attacks in london, IV
London police think that the four people who nearly simultaneously bombed three subway cars and a bus were all British citizens and were all killed in the blasts.
None of that information is really a surprise to me, nor should it be to anyone else who has been following terrorism-related news. This story seems a bit confused — on the one hand, the first line says that “[p]olice believe all four bombers who attacked trains and a bus in London died in the attacks”; and on the other, it says “Police believe the three Underground trains were targeted by attackers who placed explosives with timers on board and then got off”, which seems to imply that the three train bombers may yet live. It appears now from the reports that the former is true.
In addition, the identification of one of the bombers led to raids on several houses.
UPDATE [11:18]: This report clears up the confusion. The bus bomber was definitely killed in the blast, but even though a report says the other three also died, London police are not commenting on it.
I hope at least one of them can be found alive and brought to a widely-publicized public trial. Then, maybe more people will be convinced of what we really face in this terrorist enemy.
UPDATE [22:11 07.13]: “Widely-publicized public trial” maybe the single silliest phrase I’ve ever written.
