murray trial: ENGL 942 — depicting common sense in murder mysteries
Just kidding; the K-State English department really doesn’t offer a class on depicting common sense in murder mysteries.
If it did, I have a suggestion: Don’t let Thomas Murray teach it.
Murray is, of course, the K-State professor on trial in Douglas County for the murder of his ex-wife, Carmin Ross-Murray. Previously I noted that he had engaged in incriminating Internet activities, and the Lawrence Journal-World reported two days ago that Murray had appeared extraordinarily disheveled and even slightly injured during his interrogation in Riley County.
Now it seems that Murray made a comment to his neighbor, saying “I hate to say this, but it would be better off if she weren’t alive.” The neighbor testified yesterday.
It appears from the coverage that none of Murray, the prosecutors, and the investigators are acquitting themselves admirably in this case, but in the end I believe if things continue as they are that Murray will be found guilty, as there is too much circumstantial evidence that fingers him.
