monthly report: december 2004

This is the sixth installment of a series highlighting evolution’s growth over the past month.

I had 1375 visitors this month, making 2641 visits — both evolution records. That makes an average of just under two visits per visitor, so I’m getting a lot of repeat traffic. I briefly tried BlogExplosion but I got tired of surfing the sites in their directory to earn points, so I stopped. I did get some traffic out of it. The biggest single day was the 30th, with 250 visits on that day alone. The biggest times of day for me continue to be in the evening, from 19:00 to 00:00.

I had visitors from 43 countries, including such places as Tuvalu (2500 miles north of New Zealand, in the South Pacific), Estonia, Norway, and several visits from the Cocos Islands, an Australian territory in the Indian Ocean, which thankfully escaped death at the hands of the massive earthquake and resulting tsunami.

Referrers. My top five blog referrers were:

  1. The 2004 Weblog Awards
  2. My brother Neil
  3. The Politburo Diktat
  4. Classical Values
  5. Legal XXX

That’s good to see, because the last four are four of my favorites.

Search Terms. Many people came here looking for information on three of Kansas’s four high-profile murder cases. The three that people came looking for were the cases of former K-State student Ali Kemp, the BTK case, and the case of former K-State professor Thomas Murray. The weirdest of them all, however, are these:

  • primordial jerk — The jerk that started it all.
  • japan show girls herd — I too have searched in vain for a herd of showgirls.
  • bahraini bitch — I’d be pissed too if I had to live with the regulations that many do in this region.
  • Sometimes I get a heads-up on a local story: jose lima gave a woman vd. WHB-AM 810 (Kansas City) reported that the once-and-again Royals pitcher is being sued over just such a claim.
  • eastern kansas pope evil — turned up these bits of gold, here and here.

Thanks once again for taking the next step with us.
