the ivory tower

I was checking my site logs this morning, and I noticed someone had done a search on the name of the head of Purdue’s College Republican chapter. That jumped out at me in the light of a piece over at Critical Mass and a post I wrote sometime back about a Purdue campus newspaper article on a survey where two out of five Purdue faculty described the student body (40,000 strong and representing nearly every country on Earth) as “too conservative and a problem”.

In the light of the Critical Mass piece referenced above, it seems the Purdue professoriat meant not only to lament the current state of affairs, but actually intended to insult students. To some, there is no crime more heinous than to be a political conservative.

My advice to those professors? “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you,” or, think about all of that the next time you petulantly complain about your pay.
